Young people paid a "huge cost" to protect the public during the Covid crisis, Boris Johnson has told the investigation studying the consequences on young people.

The ex- prime minister restated an expression of remorse made previously for decisions the government erred on, but said he was pleased of what educators and learning centers did to manage with the "incredibly tough" conditions.
