Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the team's ten-game winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
