Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
